The fourth grade's first science unit is anchored in a phenomenon surrounding fossil beds that were unearthed in Ashfall, Nebraska. The unit starts with students exploring the fossil beds through videos and discovering entire skeletons of animals that never lived anywhere near that area before. They are tasked through multiple lessons to figure out how they got there and what killed them so suddenly. As a follow-up to that unit, students will attend a virtual field trip to the Ashfall Fossil Beds in Nebraska on Thursday and Friday, March 25 & 26.
